Finally, they are here! The World Famous NINJAMMERZ: the best Lindy Hoppers in the world descend on Tokyo, Japan for a 2 day workshop event! Want to dance with freedom and efficiency? Look badass? Feel awesome in your dancing? This is where you have to begin your journey! This is your ticket into their world!
Coming Saturday and Sunday, January 9th and 10th, 2010.
iSwingTokyo will host the Ninjammerz for a two-day, 10 hour workshop. There will be 5 hours of instruction each day with a dance event each evening. We will also have live bands! This is an amazing opportunity to learn from and dance with the very best dancers in the world today!

Who are the Ninjammerz?
The Ninjammerz are the premier Lindy Hop troupe in the world today. They are widely considered to be, either individually or together, the very best in the world.

What makes the Ninjammerz so special?
The Ninjammerz have taken the Lindy Hop scene by storm. They win awards, trophies and prizes at every competition that they go to. What makes them special is their awesome style, full of passion and that crazy energy which has not been seen since Frankie Manning’s limelight days. Their unique and innovative choreography has also earned them a spot in Lindy Hop history. They are, in a word, “Badass!”
In addition to the competition scene, they are widely respected as some of the best social dancers and best instructors in the world. What is wonderful about the Ninjammerz is that they selflessly share the mechanics behind what they do. They know exactly HOW they do something and can teach it to you! We are not saying that you will become Ninjammerz in 2 days, but you will be that much further on your way to freeing yourself so that you can dance efficiently, to the music, in your own way.
I have been doing dance for 20 years. Do I have to take their beginner classes?
In one word, yes. The Ninjammerz probably dance very different to the way you are dancing now. Their focus on rhythm, relaxation, boom-shaka, stretch, contraction, energy transfer and efficiency of movement is unique. You need these basic things to get it right. Don’t skimp on these classes. You will not understand the later classes if you do.
What kind of dancing will be taught at these classes?
Lindy Hop and other Jazz dances (Charleston, etc).
What is Swing Jazz?
Swing Jazz, also called Vernacular Jazz or Authentic Jazz is a free-form of Jazz dancing which has its roots in African movement and other traditional dance forms. Basically, this is a social, solo expression of Jazz through body movement. This is not the “Modern Jazz” or “Theatrical Jazz” associated with broadway dancing. This is the Authentic Jazz of 1920’s -1940’s Harlem. Authentic Vernacular Jazz is very challenging and a lot of FUN!
I’m a Total Beginner. Can I Join the Workshops?
You will get the most out of the Ninjammerz workshops if you are an intermediate Lindy Hop dancer or an intermediate/advanced dancer of another genre (ex. Salsa). But you’re welcome to join no matter what your dance level or experience. If you’ve been dancing swing for less than 6 months, we suggest that you take some of our classes before attending the workshops.
For this workshop, everyone is a beginner. Ninjammerz dance quite differently to what has been taught around the world in the past. These classes will change your perception of Lindy for the better.
What Are Classes like?
You’ll be immersed in an energetic and intense learning environment. You’ll laugh. You will learn a lot of new concepts and be inspired. You’ll sweat. And by the end of the day, you’ll be dancing better and enjoying yourself more on the social dance floor.
Do I Need to Bring A Partner?
There is no need to bring a partner. During classes, partners will rotate. At the evening dance, everyone dances together. Come with a group of friends, or come by yourself!
What Should I Wear?
For the workshop, wear loose comfortable clothing or gym wear. Expect to sweat! Also bring an extra t-shirt, towel, and bottle of water. For shoes, we recommend sneakers with smooth soles, dance sneakers, or swing dance shoes.
For the Dances: Although there is not a specific dress code, dancers come dressed in a variety of styles from Vintage to modern. In general, you can dress to impress!
