Learn the absolute essential Balboa basics in this 3.5 hours of intensive fun. This workshop follows the format of our popular beginner’s intensive program. If you’ve always wanted to learn the Balboa, this is the perfect class with which to get started.


Balboa Intensive Lesson

The Balboa Intensive class is a 3.5 hour crash course that covers all Balboa and Bal-Swing fundamentals. We’ll cover the balboa single-time and double-time basics, come-around, push breaks, lolly kicks, throwouts and simple variations to get you started. As always, we emphasize solid leading & following techniques.

This intense Balboa crash course is geared toward those with some Swing dance experience (Lindy Hop), but have never danced Balboa before.

* We recommend that you have 6 months to 1 year dance experience or very good body awareness before registering for this class. Most students retake this class a few times before moving to level 2.

This class continues with more advanced movement patterns using toss-outs, in and out, cross breaks and pure bal movement.

Lesson FAQ for Balboa Intensive

  • Pre-registration required.
  • You should have some swing dance experience (6 months – 1 year).
  • No partner needed. No previous Balboa dance experience needed.
  • Wear loose and comfortable clothing.
  • We recommend dance shoes, or shoes with low heels for followers.
  • You may wish to bring a workout towel and change of clothes.
  • You’ll be able to change in the restrooms.
  • The practice rooms are on the B1 level. There is a small sign to the right of the reception desk. Our lessons are under “iSwingTokyo.”
